Fabrics are different: blue, white, red and in addition intricate, of solid colors and textured. And each of the parameters must play a decisive role in choosing of the material for the garment.
First, let’s talk about the texture. There are soft to the touch materials and hard, translucent light and heavy, dull and sparkling.
Among the soft fabrics are chiffon, crepe-satin and crepe de chine. Such materials are draped well; therefore they are suitable for the creation of tails, jabots and lush sleeves.
Soft materials form pleasant smooth lines and will have to face any woman. I doesn’t matter what sort of woman it is: thin, full, high or miniature.
Dense and hard fabrics, such as moire, taffeta or brocade, do not fit for draperies, because their folds will be harsh and sharp. Therefore, dresses and skirts which tight the figure are sewn from these materials. They are suitable for thin and short women.
Products of the textile industry can be transparent, translucent and opaque at all.
Transparent fabrics are most often used in the ensemble with a dense «companion». The ladies with a sporty and a full stature should avoid transparency. But small ruffles, drapes and luxury will be to face for feminine and slender girls.
Bright fabrics such as satin, taffeta, crepe-satin are contraindicated to ladies of the Balzac age. Satin clothes are good for all women, therefore, brocade and moire patterns are found much less frequently in the manufacture.
Colors of fabrics
Fabric can be one-colored, plain-colored, padded (a printed figure is on the top of the fabric), embossed (weaving figure as on the brocade), figured, many colored and melange.
Melange and plain-colored fabrics are good for any woman. But the tone warm or cold, dark or light is another matter.
Remember the axiom: light and warm fabrics make people fatter. So, if you have a couple of kilos, dark shades will become your allies.
Printed fabrics can have such a pattern:
- polka dot of any size;
- spot;
- checked;
- striped;
- geometrical or floral ornament.
A small light polka dot, as a rule, is for all women: plump, slim, young people and elderly ones. A large polka dot is for the young and tall girls.
Spot on a light background is the best for young ladies and women of middle age, but a spot on a dark background is for ladies of the Balzac age.
The striped fabric is good for the classic business suits, dresses with flaring skirts. If the strip is faded or bright, but thin, it will decorate almost any stature. Most importantly, place it horizontally (for skinny) or vertically (for plump and short).
Wide strips are contraindicated for miniature and full, low and stubby women. Small and narrow strip is for them.
Small and average spot is good for all the ladies. A big spot is for only thin and tall women. It is the best way to create simple products without fine details from large spots. For example, straight skirts and blouses.
A small ornament on a light background is universal, but a large ornament doesn’t suit for chunky women.
A printed image also contains a small trick. Choose the fabric so that the color of a rare printed print is in harmony with the color of your eyes or hair. You’ll see, how beautiful you will be in this dress!
And, finally, fancy goods. As a rule, it is a smooth colored material. And, following the above written axiom, it will suit for each of us.
And remember: for the future of clothing manufacture works of art you need to choose the fabric carefully, taking into account not only the texture and the pattern, but such points as when, how and with what you will wear the outfit.
